Q. Is buying
on the web secure?
A. Yes, we use the secure and sophisticated WorldPay payments
system owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland. If you prefer
we can accept UK cheques by post.
Q. Who manages TAPMAGIC?
A. Tapmagic Limited is a privately
owned company. The executive directors are Alan Amphlett
Lewis, Jonathan Laker and Andrew Ray. Tapmagic commenced trading in 1999.
| Q. Who designed the
TAPMAGIC product range? |
|
A. The TAPMAGIC and SPRAYMAGIC
tap (faucet) inserts are designed by Jonathan Laker,
an experienced and innovative industrial designer. Jonathan
has also designed other unique
products, including Smartswitch and Easycarton.
Q. What material is TAPMAGIC made in?
A. TAPMAGIC is made from hostaform,
a type of acetal. This is a material used in
other water industry products and has Water Research
Council approval. The valve used in the Tapmagic cartridge models is made of silicon approved by the US FDA.
| Q. What are the benefits
of TAPMAGIC? |
|
A. TAPMAGIC replaces a standard
tap outlet and reduces water wastage by up to 70%. This
results in significant financial benefit from both water
and energy saving.
Q. What is unique about TAPMAGIC?
A. The TAPMAGIC unit converts
the flow of water into a spray reducing the flow from
a standard tap outlet to 2 litres per minute in the low flow mode. However, unlike
other water saving devices, it also enables the user to receive a full flow
of water as the tap is turned on further.
| Q. What size taps
do TAPMAGIC and SPRAYMAGIC fit? |
|
A. TAPMAGIC comes in three models.
The UNIFIT version fits circular, unthreaded, tap outlets
from 15mm to 19mm (5/8 to 3/4 inch). The other models
are designed for modern threaded
taps; the M24 (24mm) unit which screws into the tap and the M22 (22mm) that
screws onto the outside of the tap.

Q. How much water will it save?
A. In theory 70% of the water
passing through the tap where it is fitted. In practice
Southern Water has achieved 50%. As 8% of domestic water
consumption is at hand basins, you would probably save
4% of your total water bill.
A. Tapmagic Limited also manufactures
SPRAYMAGIC. This is a low cost device that fits circular
plain tap outlets from 15mm to 19mm (5/8 to 3/4 inch)
and converts the flow of water
to an economical 2 litres per minute spray. It does not have a full flow second stage. This product
is ideal for water saving on taps in public places where
a spray mode is adequate i.e. schools and offices. It
is very much cheaper than alternatives such as self closing
taps. There is also a cartridge M24 / M22 model.
Q. How are the inserts packaged?
A. For the DIY market,
the TAPMAGIC units and the SPRAYMAGIC are packed singly with fitting key and instructions. The SPRAYMAGIC Unifit version is sold as a pair of units. For large orders we can be
flexible on packaging.
| Q. How much does TAPMAGIC
cost? |
|
A. The price depends upon volume
and the packaging required. For direct sales see the
web order page. Discounts are available on larger quantities
and for distributors.
Q. Does Tapmagic Limited have a Refunds Policy?
A. Yes. While every effort is made to ensure
quality control, for any product with a fault the customer
will be offered a replacement or refund according to
his preference.
Q. Has TAPMAGIC won any awards?
A. TAPMAGIC has won two DTI Smart
awards to assist with the development and the TAPMAGIC
unit has Millennium Product status.
| Q. What is the product
life of TAPMAGIC? |
|
A. The components have been tested
for over a million movements and 4 years use of TAPMAGIC
has been simulated to test for build up of lime scale.
The simulation in a hard water
environment showed a slight build up of lime scale, however not on the working
parts, and performance was not affected. In the event
of any blockage the units can easily be removed for clearing.
Q. Is TAPMAGIC easy to fit?
A. Yes. For all three versions,
it involves a simple operation, which is described
in an instruction
leaflet included with the unit. See also the web page
for each product.
| Q. Can TAPMAGIC be
used on mixer taps? |
|
A. Yes. The units can accept
hot water and there are no problems with hot-water
taps or mixer taps. With saving hot water there is
the added benefit of energy saving. Note some
kitchen mixer taps in the UK have concentric flows and these taps can not be used with
TAPMAGIC units.
Q. Is TAPMAGIC patented?
A. Yes. TAPMAGIC® is covered by a UK patent and
international patents. Tapmagic is a Registered European Trade Mark.
Q. What market is TAPMAGIC targeting?
A. With the increase
in the metering of domestic
properties, TAPMAGIC is aimed at the DIY retrofit market. It saves money
and helps the environment. We would also like to hear
from retailers and others who would like to market the products.
| Q. Is TAPMAGIC available
through any one else? |
|
A. TAPMAGIC and SPRAYMAGIC can be purchased direct
from Tapmagic Limited or through its distributors.
Q. In the case of retrofitting such devices is the
installer or is the supplier responsible for ensuring
regulations are met?
A. The person installing any device to the public
water supply is generally responsible.
| Q. Is there export potential for TAPMAGIC? |
|
A. Yes. The new M22/M24 includes
a flow restrictor or regulator to limit full flow as required in many
markets. Tapmagic Ltd has a distributor Bux & Co, in Singapore for the Asia Pacific region
and is
currently involved
in discussions with interested parties in a other
countries.
